Nature Conservation Masterplan
In September 2009, Singapore announced a broadly conceptual National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP), as one of its obligations as a Party to the Convention on Biological Diversity, demonstrating its commitment as a global citizen to biodiversity conservation.
Further to this, a holistic NParks’ Nature Conservation Master Plan (NCMP) launched in 2015, charting the course of Singapore’s future biodiversity conservation efforts. The NCMP aims to systematically consolidate, coordinate, strengthen and intensify the biodiversity conservation efforts outlined in our NBSAP.
The Nature Conservation Masterplan comprises 4 thrusts:
- Conservation of Key Habitats
- Habitat Enhancement, Restoration, and Species Recovery
- Applied Research in Conservation Biology and Planning; and
- Community Stewardship and Outreach in Nature
