About the Festival of Biodiversity
In collaboration with the Biodiversity Roundtable, we organised the annual Festival of Biodiversity to commemorate and celebrate Singapore’s biodiversity. Through this event, we seek to educate and enthuse the general public to be more proactive in conserving our natural heritage.
The inaugural Festival of Biodiversity was held over the weekend of 26–27 May 2012 at the Botany Centre of the Singapore Botanic Gardens. More than 35 of our partners participated in the Festival, with many of them setting up booths to showcase their conservation works. An estimated 1,500 people were treated to 35 concurrent events, comprising free art and craft workshops and talks.
In order to reach out to a wider audience, the Festival of Biodiversity 2013 was conducted at VivoCity. An estimated 10,000 people attended the two-day event held on 13–14 July 2013. Our partners, including community groups, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), government agencies and corporate partners, came together to participate in the exhibition entitled ‘Our Natural Heritage’. This showcase displayed the native biodiversity found in our marine, terrestrial and urban habitats.
