  NParks unveils Avenue of Heritage Trees and announces new Civic District Tree Trail

  The National Parks Board (NParks) has unveiled an avenue of Heritage Trees at Connaught Drive, in conjunction with the second instalment of Car-Free Sunday. Launched by Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs and National Development, Mr Desmond Lee this morning, the “Avenue of Heritage Trees” features a total of 22 Heritage Rain Trees, marking it as the largest number of trees in a single avenue endorsed under the NParks’ Heritage Tree Scheme.

  The National Parks Board has called for an Expression of Interest today, inviting consultants to undertake the concept design for Jurong Lake Gardens (JLG) Central and East. Consultants are also required to develop ideas to integrate these Gardens with the concept design of JLG West and the surroundings.

  New Ubin Living Lab provides opportunities for outdoor learning and citizen science projects

  The National Parks Board (NParks) today announced the opening of the new Ubin Living Lab (ULL) on Pulau Ubin. This new facility will be a catalyst for community participation in conserving the island’s natural heritage, through citizen science programmes, outdoor camps and scientific research.

  Enhancing biodiversity in the new Kranji Marshes

  The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and National Parks Board (NParks) today officially opened Kranji Marshes, a 56.8-hectare freshwater marshland that is home to unique biodiversity. Mr Desmond Lee, Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs and National Development, officiated the opening in conjunction with World Wetlands Day, which is celebrated on 2 February. SMS Lee planted a Keranji tree, a native tree which Kranji Road is named after, at the entrance to Kranji Marshes to mark the occasion. The tree was found in abundance all over Singapore in the first half of the 19th century.
