  • NParks opens Chestnut Nature Park (South)

    The National Parks Board (NParks) launched the first phase of Chestnut Nature Park today. About 17 hectares in size (26 football fields), Chestnut Nature Park (South) extends the buffer for the Central Catchment Nature Reserve and improves the ecological network for biodiversity. Chestnut Nature Park (South) is Singapore’s first nature park with separate mountain biking and hiking trails, measuring 1.6km and 2.1km respectively.

    The much-anticipated premier international garden and flower event, Singapore Garden Festival (SGF), will return for its sixth edition from 23 to 31 July 2016, marking 10 years since it started in 2006. Set to be the largest SGF ever, the return of SGF 2016 was today announced by Minister for National Development, Mr Lawrence Wong, who helped to complete the world’s Largest floral chandelier – put together by more than 260 students, community gardeners, corporate volunteers and NParks staff over five days.

    The National Parks Board (NParks) has unveiled an avenue of Heritage Trees at Connaught Drive, in conjunction with the second instalment of Car-Free Sunday. Launched by Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs and National Development, Mr Desmond Lee this morning, the “Avenue of Heritage Trees” features a total of 22 Heritage Rain Trees, marking it as the largest number of trees in a single avenue endorsed under the NParks’ Heritage Tree Scheme.
