Johor Fig A large strangling fig that can grow up to 45 m in height. Crown is very large and wide spreading. Bark is pinkish-brown. Figs ripen from yellow to orange. Native to Singapore, endangered in the wild. This plant species was described from Java and named after E.J. Kerkhoven, born 1834, a Dutch botanist in Java. In the mid 1900s, it was recorded to be common in Java and often found in villages. It was recorded as an immense strangler that was also common in Malaya then.
