Inaugural E-Pets’ Day Out organised by AVS and animal welfare groups to promote adoption of animals and fundraising efforts through Facebook Live

New live Q & A sessions with AVS vets

Pets’ Day Out, the Animal & Veterinary Service’s (AVS) signature event, will be hosted live for the first time on Facebook (www.facebook.com/AnimalBuzzSG) on Saturday, 27 June, 3pm – 5pm.  The inaugural E-Pets’ Day Out will feature shelter animals up for adoption from AVS’ partner Animal Welfare Groups (AWGs) live chats with volunteers from the AWGs about the animals and a one-stop portal for members of the public to support the AWGs through donations or purchase of their merchandise. Another special component will be a live Q & A session with veterinarians from AVS. E-PDO will be held monthly.

Adopt a Pet through e-PDO

Pets’ Day Out, which started in August 2019, is a regular rehoming platform where AVS works closely with its partner AWGs to promote adoption of shelter animals. To introduce the animals to more members of public during this period, AVS is bringing Pets’ Day Out online monthly. At the upcoming e-Pets’ Day Out, four animal welfare groups will be introducing their dogs and cats that are up for adoption. The participating AWGs for the first instalment of e-PDO are:

• Cat Welfare Society
• Causes for Animals
• Oasis Second Chance Animal Shelter
• SOSD Singapore

Apart from meeting the animals online, viewers will have the opportunity to learn more about the behind-the-scenes operations of the animal welfare groups, and interact with its volunteers, by posing questions relating to the adoption process and requirements in caring for, and the behaviour of the animals in the comment section.

“Chat with our vet”

AVS veterinarians will be online to share tips on pet care and health. The first session will focus on “Pet Health and Wellness”. Viewers can also pose questions relating to their pets’ health and behavior to the veterinarian, who will answer these questions live.

To support the AWGs during this challenging period, AVS has put together a one-stop portal where the public can find out more about Pets’ Day Out and the 13 partner AWGs. Viewers can support the AWGs by purchasing the AWGs’ merchandise or donating directly to the AWGs. The partner AWGs are:
