NATURE IMMERSION
New Walk in Nature: A Guided Nature Immersion programme
This immersive programme invites participants to deepen their connection with the natural world through a series of guided invitations at tranquil spots within the Singapore Botanic Gardens. 

Over the course of 2 hours, attendees will:

  1. Engage in sensory awareness exercises to heighten their perception of nature
  2. Learn techniques for mindful observation of the natural environment
  3. Participate in nature-inspired reflective activities
  4. Discover the principles of nature connection and its benefits for well-being

Led by an experienced nature guide, this walk is designed to foster a sense of interconnectedness with nature, reduce stress, and deepen appreciation for nature and the environment. Suitable for all fitness levels. Weather-appropriate clothing recommended.

Please bring along the following items for the session:

  • Small foldable mat
  • Water bottle for hydration
  • Rain protection gear (poncho, umbrella) – session will embrace wet conditions
  • Sun protection gear (sunscreen, hat/cap) – session will embrace hot conditions

Find out more about carnivorous plants that lure, trap and devour insects! Discover how these plants can flourish in your home and learn more about the basic morphology, ecology, care requirements, and propagation methods of pitcher plants.

  2. Unique plant characteristics – modified leaf with tendrils and pitcher filled with digestive fluid
  3. Light, fertiliser and potting media requirements
  4. Propagation methods

Orchid Discoveries: An Introduction to Orchid Hybridisation
Discover how the Gardens grows orchid hybrids using the process of micropropagation. Learn about the materials used and the transplantation process of orchid plantlets from flask to pot. Join us at Burkill Hall, at the National Orchid Garden.

  3. Propagation of some common herbs and spices plants

Growing Gingers for your Kitchen

The Ginger family Zingiberaceae has various edible plants that are consumed worldwide. There are also gingers that are cultivated as ornamental plants and used in traditional medicine. The rhizomes, leaves and even flowers of some species are edible. Due to their fragrance and spicy taste, they are popular as spices and flavouring agents. This talk will cover Common ginger, Turmeric and Cekur. These three ginger species are suitable for beginners and apartment dwellers who prefer growing gingers in pots.

Over the course of 1 hour, attendees will learn about:
  1. Ecological habitats and distribution
  2. Plant characteristics
  3. Light, fertiliser and potting media requirements
  4. Propagation methods of Common Ginger, Turmeric and Cekur

New Behind-the-Scenes: Inside the National Orchid Garden Nursery
Have you ever wondered how the National Orchid Garden (NOG) maintains its vibrant orchid displays and supports the Gardens' orchid breeding programme? Join our colleagues from the Living Collections team to learn about their work in the nursery.

Over the course of 1 hour, attendees will learn about:

  1. Horticultural work of NOG
  2. How orchids are grown and maintained in the nursery
  3. Environmental sustainability practices

Admission Fee: Admission tickets to be purchased separately at the ticketing counter on the actual day of programme (after attendance-taking and before the start of tour). Please show a valid proof of identity at the ticketing counter to enjoy prevailing concession rates.
