The Malayan Porcupine (Hystrix brachyuran) often resides in underground burrows and also can be found in a wide variety of habitats such as forests, gardens and plantations. It shakes the hollow quills on its tail to make a noise when alarmed. Before its rediscovery on Pulau Tekong in 2005, it has not been seen in the last 50 years!
