Description

Size Up to 1.5 m
Description Largest of all bronzebacks found in Singapore. Head distinct from slender body, eyes large. Scales along the middle of the dorsal surface not enlarged. Head brown above. Body brown on the dorsal surface with six narrow black stripes running from the neck to the tail, ventral surface greenish yellow with black stripe under the tail. Lacks black eye stripe which is present in most Bronzebacks in Singapore.

Ecology, Habitat & Location

Ecological Notes Diurnal, arboreal. Feeds on lizards and frogs. Oviparous.
Habitats Forest, Parks & Gardens
Distribution In Singapore, it is found in both suburban and rural areas, as well as surrounding islands. Occurs in the Malay Peninsula, Borneo, Sumatra, Java, and the Philippines.
