Description

Description Very slender and scaleless with four pairs of long barbels, long dorsal and anal fins partially fused to tail fin. Wide gap between origin of dorsal fin and back margin of exposed bony plates on head. Head squarish when viewed from above. Body greyish-brown with vertical rows of yellowish spots on the sides.

Ecology, Habitat & Location

Ecological Notes Well shaded forest streams and swamps with acidic waters. Nocturnal, bottom-dwelling and carnivorous.

Distribution In Singapore, recorded from the Central Catchment Nature Reserve and Pulau Tekong. Distributed in the Malay Peninsula, Java, Sumatra and Borneo.
