Description

Size 40 cm
Description Resembles Clarias batrachus, but has a wider gap between start of dorsal fin and bony head plate. Head is more angular when viewed from above. Dorsal and anal fins are not joined to caudal fin. Body greyish-brown, scaleless, with vertical rows of yellowish spots on the sides, and four pairs of long barbels present on mouth.

Ecology, Habitat & Location

Ecological Notes Has the ability to live out of water for some time, and can travel short distances on land. Omnivorous, nocturnal and can be found mainly at the bottom of the water body. Found in forest streams and acidic swamps.
Habitats Forest, Freshwater
Distribution Found in Bukit Timah Nature Reserve and Central Catchment Nature Reserve in Singapore. Worldwide, can be found in the Malay Peninsula, Java, Sumatra and Borneo.
