What to do
Refer to the following steps for your research permit application:
1. Prepare the necessary information
You should have the following ready before making your online application:
- A list of the precise areas (for example points, trails or routes within NParks and non-NParks-managed land, parks, nature reserves or nature parks where you intend to conduct your research.)
- You may indicate multiple locations in your application. The site managers or land owners will be consulted based on the locations you have indicated.
- A list of samples or specimens you intend to collect, if applicable.
2. Complete the permit application
Log in to the BIOME research permit application page.
Fill in the details of your research project before submitting your application.
After submission, ensure all listed team members (including yourself) complete the e-acknowledgement sent via email. The permit application will only be processed once all team member e-signatures are provided.

How long it takes
Permits are issued within 14 working days of approval by all relevant site managers and landowners. A longer processing period may be needed if your application:
- Requires approval from multiple authorities or sites.
- Involves sensitive or restricted access areas.
- Involves complicated or large-scale collection projects.

3. Download and print the permit letter and research pass
Once your application is approved, you will receive an email notification.
You may log in to the BIOME research permit application page to download and print your research permit and research pass. Both are required when conducting your research on the study site.

Research permits and passes are not transferable.
Names of individuals and institutions who are not documented in the research permit and passes are not allowed to proceed with the research project.
