Tit-berry

Commonly found along coastal sites in Singapore, the Tit-berry (Allophylus cobbe (L.) Reausch.) is a bird-attracting shrub or short climber plant. Its shortly-stalked flowers are faintly fragrant and its one-seeded fruit are round and orange-red in colour. This multi-functional plant has various ethnobotanical uses. The pulped leaves are believed to help treat fever and stomach ache, the wood is usually used for temporary and indoor structures, canes and firewood, and an extract of its leaves is said to be used as mouthwash for children.
