One of the key pillars of the Singapore Green Plan 2030, our City in Nature vision aims to bring nature closer to everyone. Living close to nature can be challenging, and children need to learn how to co-exist harmoniously with wildlife from a young age.
To help facilitate the start of their learning, we have developed an educational resource package titled "Living in our City in Nature and appropriate behaviour when encountering wildlife in our green spaces" with support from the Garden City Fund (GCF), NParks' registered charity and IPC.
Targeted at children aged 4 to 6 years old, it highlights the dos and don’ts of responsible human-wildlife encounters. It encourages them to develop a deeper appreciation for the biodiversity in Singapore, as well as how to play their part in our transformation into a City in Nature.
These resources support the learning areas outlined in the current kindergarten curriculum, Nurturing Early Learners.
With these resources, young children are encouraged to discover more about the world around them, develop socially and emotionally, and build their motor, language, literacy and numeracy skills.
All preschools licensed under the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) will receive complimentary sets of educational resources by February 2025. These educational resources are also available online below.
Each set includes:

Join their adventure as they encounter different wildlife species and learn what they should and should not do. If they do the right thing, they might be able to save Grandpa’s favourite tree!

Although these resources were designed specifically for children in the K1 and K2 cohort, schools are free to use these resources for students at other levels as well.
Many of our partner centres have adapted the resources and executed age-appropriate activities to complement their centre’s nursery curriculum.
As we have limited stock and have no plans to reprint, new schools may wish to email Raymond_Chan@nparks.gov.sg if they are interested in getting a copy of the resources, subject to availability.
You may download the entire package on our website.
At this moment, we have no plans to distribute these resources to any bookstores or retail outlets. Members of the public who are interested in getting a copy of the entire package should download them online.
