Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form It is a climber up to 25 m long.
Foliage Its stalked leaves have thinly leathery leaf blades that are egg-shaped-oblong and 9–23 by 4–8.5 cm. The leaf blade’s midrib is occasionally finely hairy below.
Flowers Its flowers are about 1 cm long, have whitish petals each with a claw that is 2–3 mm long.
Fruit Its fruit is stalkless, and contains 2 egg-shaped seeds.
Habitat It grows in lowland forests.
Associated Fauna Its flowers are insect-pollinated.
Etymology Greek Artabotrys, hanging fruit; Latin costatus, with prominent ribs, the reference to which is unknown.
