Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form An epiphyte with sympodial growth form (pseudobulbs are produced in a row along the rhizome).
Foliage The strap-shaped leaves are alternately arranged along the stem-like pseudobulb.
Stems The underground horizontal stem known as a rhizome produces stem-like pseudobulbs along its length.
Flowers The light pink flowers have a dark pink lip. They are borne on axillary racemes.
Fruit The dry, dehiscent fruit is known as a capsule. They contain numerous, dust-like seeds.
Cultivation It is best grown under light shade, such as 50-75% sun and requires at least 8 hours of sun daily. The roots need a freely draining growing medium with good aeration, such as charcoal. Regular soil potting mix is too wet and will cause Dendrobium roots to rot. Depending on the weather, they should be watered every 1-2 days, needing more water on hotter days and no water on rainy days. Try to avoid getting the leaves wet, applying water directly to the roots in the morning or early evening when the sun is less intense and there is time for the plant to dry before nightfall.
Etymology It is a hybrid originating from a cross between Dendrobium Chao Praya White and Dendrobium Ekapol.
