Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form A sympodial, epiphytic warm-growing orchid. 
Foliage The leaves are thin but tough and green with an acute apex. 
Stems The plant has slender, erect or pendulous yellow-green to green stems which are covered with papery leaf sheaths when young. The stems become grooved and leafless when old. 
Flowers The flowers are usually produced from the nodes of old, leafless stems in dense, short racemes. The flowers can last up to 2 months and are variable in colour and waxy, varying from dark red, pink and white with an orange lip.  
Habitat It is found in lowland forests up to an altitude of 500m.
