Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form An epiphytic, sympodial orchid. 
Foliage The oblong and simple leaves have a maroon underside. The leaves fall after a year. 
Stems It has long, grooved pendulous stems. The old stems are leafless but bear flowers. 
Flowers The fragrant flowers come in 1 to 2 flowered inflorescences and are about 2.5cm in width. The sepals are yellow while the petals are white with a yellow tinge at the petal base. The flower lip is white with a slightly frilled edge. 
Habitat It has been found in stunted ridge-top forest and montane forest at altitudes of 900 to 1500m. It has also been found growing on trees in heath-forest at 350m altitude. 
Cultivation I is best grown under partial shade, in very free draining and well aerated growing medium. It can also be grown, mounted on fern bark, cork slabs or tree bark.
