Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form Sympodial orchid that forms large clumps, it can grow up to 60cm in length. 
Foliage Green, pleated leaves are oval-shaped with smooth leaf edges and are arranged in pairs on each pseudobulb. The pseudobulb is narrowly conical and ribbed. 
Flowers The flowers are borne on long a pendulous inflorescence and open simultaneously. The flowers with yellow sepals and petals have  a slight lemon-scent. The plant can flower all year round under cultivation. Flowers tend to close partially at night and re-open fully in the morning.
Habitat It is found growing from sea level to 1500m in altitude on tree trunks and branches near a water source e.g. rivers in freshwater and peat swamp or hill and riverine forests.  
Cultivation This species requires well-draining potting mix, preferably containing humus and watered regularly and allowed to dry between watering sessions. It grows well when generously fed with an organic fertilizer. This species is sensitive to re-potting, so carefully re-pot only when truly necessary. It is ideal for hanging baskets to display its long, hanging flower stalks.
