Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form A sympodial epiphyte, it has a creeping growth habit and can grow up to 40cm tall. 
Foliage The leaves are borne on pseudobulbs in pairs. The leaves are plicate, the leaf base narrowing down into a grooved petiolate base. The pseudobulbs are pear-shaped and green.
Stems The stem is a creeping rhizome. 
Flowers The flowers are borne on arching racemes. The flower sepals and petals are light green. The flower lip is green with black venation, the mid lobe of the lip has 2 patches of warts, separated by a gap. 
Others - Plant Morphology Because the dark brown-red markings are so intense in some cultivars, the name 'Black Orchid' has been given to them.
