Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form A tree up to 43 m tall.
Trunk The fissured bark is grey, light brown to red.
Foliage Leaves are obovate to lanceolate; have an opposite arrangement.
Flowers The small flowers are borne in clusters, white to yellow in color.
Fruit The fresh fruits are ellipsoid, about 2.5 cm in length. The skin and flesh are yellow or orange when fully ripe.
Habitat It can be found in tropical lowland forests, up to 600 m altitude.
Etymology Species epithet oppositifolia means opposite leaves.
