Description | Slender straight black bill; very long, grayish-green legs. Lower back, rump, uppertail-coverts white. Breeding: upperparts grayish-brown, notched buffish-grey with black shaft-streaks. Dense dark-brown streaking from head to breast. Leg yellowish. Non-breeding: from crown to upperparts fairly plain to brownish grey with whitish fringes. |

Distribution | The East Asian-Australasian population breeds in Siberia to northeast China; winters in south China, Southeast Asia and Australia. While birds breeds from West Russia to Siberia winters in Africa, Middle East and South Asia. A very common winter visitor and passage migrant to Singapore and Sungei Buloh. It is one of the most common birds found in Sungei Buloh between Sep and Apr. First arrivals from the southward migration arrive as early as Aug. |
