Amphibians and reptiles

Amphibians and reptiles generally cannot be imported as pets.

The only reptiles you are allowed to bring into Singapore as pets are the Red-Eared Slider (Trachemys scripta elegans) and Malayan box turtle (Cuora amboinensis).

Information on the import and export of other amphibians and reptiles for other purposes (e.g. zoological) can be found in the "CITES and Wildlife Trade" section.

Importing amphibians and reptiles

If you wish to bring red-eared sliders into Singapore as pets, you will first need a letter of authorisation from us. This letter is required for both commercial and personal imports.

To apply for this letter, download, complete, and mail the application form to us.
