Sunda Slow Loris

The Sunda Slow Loris (Nycticebus coucang) also known as the Greater Slow Loris is the only venomous primate in Singapore. It produces a yellow secretion from its glands on the insides of its elbow, which combines with saliva to form venom. 

It can be identified by its round head and a short muzzle with large forward-facing eyes that are encircled by dark-coloured rings. Its soft and thick fur is pale greyish to reddish brown in colour. The Sunda Slow Loris also spots a vestigial tail. What differentiates it from other slow loris species is its distinctive dark stripe down its back. It can be found in nature reserves in Singapore such as Bukit Timah Nature Reserve and Central Catchment Nature Reserve.
