The Rain Lily (Zephyranthes rosea) is a funnel-shaped flower known for blooming after heavy rains. Its cultivars come in a range of bright colours such as pink, yellow, and orange. The plant flowers throughout the year, though the flowers last only a few days before falling off. The flowers grow singly above their grass-like foliage. It prefers direct sunlight, a moderate amount of watering, and well-draining soil. They can be propagated by dividing clumps of their bulbs as well as from their seeds. However, their bulbs are toxic; consumption of the bulbs may cause vomiting, convulsions, or even death to humans.
