The Waterplay at Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden has reopened with an expanded space, as well as enhanced features and amenities for families to enjoy. Now spanning approximately 500 square metres – more than triple its previous size – the refreshed Waterplay offers children a fun, immersive way to connect with nature and learn about important environmental processes through play.

The new space brings the hydrological cycle to life and demonstrates the role of plants in transpiration and rain formation. A range of interactive water elements – including mist zones, wading pools and jets with varying spray patterns and heights – invite exploration and play. ‘Rain’ is simulated through features like umbrella fountains and a splash bucket, while ‘evaporation’ is illustrated with upward-shooting water jets. ‘Runoff’ is depicted in the Splash Zone, where small hills and mounds allow children to observe how water flowing from higher to lower elevations. Interactive signs in the area further explain these important processes, making learning both enjoyable and engaging for young visitors.

New changing areas, wash zones, and additional seating have been added for family convenience, while an upgraded drainage system keeps the area dry and safe for all visitors.

The Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden is open to children up to 14 years old, while the Waterplay is suitable for children aged 2 to 12 years old. Children must always be supervised by an accompanying adult.
