Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form Small tree.
Foliage Leaves are tri-lobed with palmate venation (14 - 35 cm long, 11 - 30 cm wide). They occur in alternate leaf arrangement (one leaf per node). Leaves are peltate with the petiole (leaf stalk) connected to the middle of the leaf blade rather than the edge.
Flowers This species has separate male and female flowers.
Habitat Found in primary or secondary forest on sandy to loamy soils. Occurs at altitudes of up to 700 m.
Associated Fauna Its hollow twigs provide shelter for ants.
