Description and Ethnobotany
Growth Form | It is an evergreen tree, up to 30 m tall. |

Trunk | Bark is pale to dark brown, smooth when young, and becoming flaking as it ages. |
Foliage | Leaves are oblong-lanceolate (10 – 24 cm long and 4 – 8 cm wide) with no domatia. Leaf base is slightly heart shaped and often slightly asymmetric. Mature leaves is leathery, dark green and with dense covering of cream-coloured scales on the underside of the leaves. Leaves are mostly smooth except for the brownish hairs on the veins has brown hairs. There are 12 – 16 pairs of secondary veins and ladder-like tertiary veins. Petiole is 0.5 – 1 cm long and covered with soft hairs. Stipules is about 0.9 cm long and falls off early. |
Flowers | Flowers occur in a 2-branched cluster, where each branch bears about 10 flowers, blooming in the same direction. Flowers are cream to yellowish and covered in soft hairs. |
Fruit | Fruit has 2 long spatula-shaped wings (up to 6 cm long and 1.5 cm wide) and 3 shorter wings (0.5 cm long and 0.3 cm wide). Nut is ovoid (0.8 cm long and 0.5 cm wide) with a short tip and partially enclosed by the wings. |
Habitat | It is found in semi-evergreen forest, on hill slopes. |
