Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form It is a large growing and spreading shrub. 
Foliage Leaves are large, ovate-shaped, with straight thorns on the axils of leaves, each leaf has a very rich splash of yellowish-gold in the middle of lamina.
Flowers The bracts are bicoloured with white and pink or purple.
Etymology Genus Bougainvillea is named after Louis Antoine de Bougainville (1729 - 1811), who was a French naval officer.
