Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form A woody shrub with irregular growth habit. 
Foliage Thorns are long straight with a slight curve near the tip. Young foliage is olive green with a tinge of red. Mature foliage exhibits two different types of variegation pattern. Type 1 has irregular variegation of creamy yellow and shades of green; type 2 has regular variegation of shades of green in the centre near to midrib and creamy yellow on the margin. 
Flowers The flowers are clustered at the end of the branches. Flower bracts are purple, lanceolate in shape, with acuminate tip and acuminate base and undulate margin. 
Taxonomy The new variety was found in Changi Airport and was registered with International Centre of Registration Authority for Bougainvillea, New Delhi, India.
Etymology The genus Bougainvillea is named after Louis Antoine de Bougainville (1729-1811), a French naval officer and circumnavigator.
