Description

Description Head distinct from body. Dorsal surface black with four yellowish brown stripes running throughout the length of the body and tail. Dorsal scales strongly keeled. Ventral surface white, with a broad black band across each scale.

Ecology, Habitat & Location

Ecological Notes Diurnal, terrestrial. Feeds predominantly on small fish and frogs.
Habitats Grassland, Terrestrial
Distribution Occurs in Sumatra, Java, and Sulawesi. In Singapore, probably introduced in the mid-1980s, and currently occurs in Lim Chu Kang, Neo Tiew, and Jurong, in both rural and suburban habitats.
