Description

Description Males and females are similar. Eyes are reddish brown on top and dark brown below. Thorax and abdomen are dark metallic blue. Wing bases have broad and distinctive deep purplish blue patches. Males have brighter purplish-blue coloured patches on wings, while females are darker in colour.

Ecology, Habitat & Location

Ecological Notes This species is a weak and slow flyer, When perching it often turns its wings to point directly at the sun. Very often its preyed upon by spider and seen trapped on spiders' web.
Habitats Freshwater, Parks & Gardens, Urban
Distribution Can be seen in the ponds at Ang Mo Kio Town Garden West and Bishan Park.
