Description

Size 61 cm
Description All-white with long black bill, conspicuous yellow feet. Breeding: long slender crest on rear crown usually consisting of two plumes; also plumes on breast, lower back; tips of those on back curl upwards. Non-breeding: no plumes.

Distribution The species is commonly found in Eurasia, Africa and Australasia, besides some of the resident population, the migratory population in East Asian-Australasian population breeds in East Asia and Southeast Asia migratory south in winter. One of the most common migratory birds in Sungei Buloh where it is a winter visitor and passage migrant. Has been recorded in all months throughout the year. Numbers tend to peak between Nov and Jan. Found in Changi, Kranji, Pulau Ubin, Pandan, Ulu Pandan. Found in mudflats, estuaries, ponds, mangroves, canals.
