OVERVIEW
This course is a sequel to the Tree Inspection Basics course and NParks’ Tree Inspection OJT module. In this workshop, participants will practice evaluating the defects that they observed and think critically on their justification for proposed mitigating measures. Usage of equipment, such as resistograph and tomograph to complement tree assessment will be taught.COURSE OBJECTIVES
- Learn the importance of Root Collar Excavation
- Think critically about the defects observed
- Understand the factors to look out for that might lead defect to result in failure
- Learn to analyze how and why certain defect leads to failures
- Learn the differences in analyzing failure potential for open and closed cavities
- Understand when and how an equipment is utilized in Visual Tree Assessment (VTA)
- Learn to justify proposed mitigating measures

ABOUT THE TRAINER
Mr Abdul Hamid is currently Director in Streetscape Division, National Parks Board. He is an ISA Certified Arborist, Municipal Specialist and has 30 years of experience in conducting tree assessments.
