Promoting responsible pet ownership (RPO)

Responsible pet ownership (RPO) goes beyond enforcement and imposition of stringent regulations to punish wrongdoers. We strongly believe in the need for responsible and appropriate behaviour in those who play a part in an animal's life cycle.

These include:

• Pet owners
• Potential pet owners
• The pet industry
• Animal welfare groups
• Grassroots organisations
• The public

We conduct public education at schools, public places, and the Animal Management Centre, to promote RPO. We also conduct an annual roadshow on RPO which involves animal welfare groups. 
Our RPO programmes equip existing and potential pet owners with knowledge about the care and responsibility needed for responsible pet ownership.
