Certificates and supporting documents

• Phytosanitary certificate: An original document issued by NParks that verifies that plants or plant products have been inspected, and are pest and disease-free.
  
  
• Import permit: A document that states the officially prescribed conditions or phytosanitary requirements to be met to prevent the introduction and spread of pests in the importing country.
  
  It includes information on the type of phytosanitary treatments required and additional declarations such as pest freedom (if any).
  
  
• Certificate of Origin (COO) (if required): A document issued by a government agency or authorised chamber of commerce that verifies the country of origin of goods.
  
  
• CITES permit (if required): A document for plants or plant products protected under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Fauna and Flora (CITES).

Treatments given to plant or plant product exports

• Heat treatment: Exposing plants or plant parts to high temperatures for a specific period to control pests and diseases.
  
  
• Fumigation treatment: Using gaseous substances to control pests and diseases.
  
  
• Chemical treatment: Dipping into, or spraying, chemicals to control pests and diseases.
  
  
• Other treatments indicated by the importing country.
