In this issue, we are giving away five Singapore Botanic Gardens’ Renanthera journal with bookmark. Contest Issue 45
“Be Well!” This has been my greeting to my friends for the past few weeks as the world comes to term with the effects of the COVID-19 virus.

While every cough and any sniffle became an immediate cause of concern, heart-warming tales of Singaporeans looking out for one another and supporting our healthcare workers remind us of the importance of staying positive and helping each other.

To keep any viruses away, it is important to stay healthy. Besides washing your hands (with soap please!) you should also continue to eat right and keep fit. As we enter a very critical phase in trying to bring down the cases in Singapore, it is essential for us to follow the advisories such as social distancing, staying at home and wearing a mask if you need to leave your house. And of course, if you are not feeling well, please stay home and rest.

In this issue we share five things you can do online that enable you to enjoy our green spaces and do your part for conservation while you stay in. Next, learn about the common black birds in our neighbourhood and the ‘new’ trees accorded Heritage Trees status in 2019. We will then explain the differences between a heron and a stork.

And now that you are staying indoors most of the time with your pets, perhaps you have been observing their behaviours more closely. Our animal behaviourist from the Animal & Veterinary Service shares her expertise insight into some common behaviour myths.

During this period, let us all continue to Stay Home for Singapore while we bring nature to you online through our YouTube channel, NParks Facebook or AnimalBuzzSG Facebook. You can also follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Telegram to get the latest updates on nature, greenery, biodiversity and pets.

For the latest advisories on the COVID-19 situation related to our parks and gardens, please visit www.nparks.gov.sg/noticeboard

We’re all in this together, so keep positive, stay healthy and I say to you, “Be Well”!
