MOE-OBS Challenge (partnership with OBS)

The MOE-OBS Challenge (Pulau Ubin) is a training programme for Outward Bound Singapore (OBS) instructors. Instructors would learn more about conservation efforts at Pulau Ubin and activities that they can facilitate with their Secondary 3 participants.

The training programme is also part of NParks' Youth@SGNature initiative which provides youths with more platforms to engage with nature and encourages them to be stewards of biodiversity conservation and greenery.

Learning objectives

NParks and OBS will enhance the MOE-OBS Challenge programme at Pulau Ubin to incorporate activities that open conversations on deeper issues relating to the environment such as biodiversity, climate change, eco-literacy, pollution and sustainability.

Programme structure

Some of the topics that would be covered include:

  • Biodiversity monitoring through citizen science
  • Pulau Ubin's habitats and biodiversity
  • Youths as agents of change
  • Human-wildlife co-existence
  • Resilience of mangroves
  • Tree planting
