Artocarpus scortechinii or Nangka Pipit is an evergreen tree that grow to 35 m tall. Leaves are broadly lance-shaped, glossy and smooth above, hairy below. When young, the leaves are pinnatifid lobed. It bear both male and female flower clusters singly on leaf axils. Fruit clusters are yellow, cylindrical, each fruit is ellipsoid, up to 8 mm by 7 mm long.

Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form It is a evergreen tree that can grow to 35 m tall.
Foliage Its leaves are opposite, stalked, broadly lance-shaped measuring 15 - 40 cm long by 8 - 20 cm wide. When young, leaves are pinnatifid lobed. The leaves are glossy above, hairy below. The stipules are long, between 5 - 17 cm, covered in yellow to reddish brown hairs.
Flowers Its flowers are monoecious, bearing both male and female flowers on the same plant. The flowering cluster (head) is found singly on leaf axils. The male cluster is cylindrical, 65 - 105 mm long by 10 mm wide.
Fruit Its fruit cluster (infructescence) is yellow, cylindrical, up to 85 mm by 55 mm. The cluster bears ellipsoid fruits that are up to 8 mm by 7 mm long each.
Habitat Occurs in evergreen forest up to 750 m altitude.
Cultivation It can be propagated by seed.
