Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form Lycopersicon esculentum 'Yellow Pear' is an herbaceous, heirloom cherry tomato up to 3.7 m tall.
Foliage The leaves are finely dissected in a feather-shaped pattern.
Fruit The fruit is a small, pear-shaped cherry tomato (about 2.5-5 cm long and 2-3 cm wide) which turns bright yellow at maturity. The smooth, glossy skin seldom cracks compared to other cultivars.
Cultivation This easy-to-grow cultivar does well in Singapore's hot, humid climate, producing a consistent abundance of cherry tomatoes from about 78 days after sowing. Plants need about 0.9 m of space between each other and should be staked. The seed can be collected to plant another crop.
Ethnobotanical Uses Edible Plant Parts : Edible Fruits
Food (Fruit or Vegetable): These mild-flavored tomatoes are a great addition to salads, adding both color and taste. They can also be used to make tomato-based sauces. Some people complain that the tomato lacks flavor. If you pick the tomatoes when they are just about to turn yellow or slightly after, they have a pleasant, sweet, but slightly tart flavor.
