Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form A herbaceous shrub with a rosette growth form.
Foliage Leaves are green and smooth, spineless and soft to touch, arranged in a rosette form.
Flowers Flowers are borne on a terminal inflorescence. Bracts are red with white tips.
Etymology The genus epithet 'Guzmania' is named for Anastasio Guzman, Spanish pharmacist and naturalist.
