Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form Biennial carnivorous plant with a rosette growth form.
Foliage Small, round leaves are arranged in a rosette. Leaves are lined with sticky, glandular trichomes which help to trap insects.
Habitat This species occurs in waterlogged areas with nutrient poor soils.
Cultivation When the plant is grown in full sun, the leaves tend to be smaller, but the glandular trichomes become bright red. When grown in light shade, the leaves become slightly bigger but the glandular trichomes are colourless. This species grows well in sphagnum moss that is kept consistently moist. It will grow for years if the flowering stalk is promptly removed, but quickly dies following flowering.
