Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form Carnivorous plant with a climbing growth habit.
Foliage The smooth, glossy leaves are spirally arranged and modified to form pitcher traps that catch insect. The pitchers are greenish yellow with dark red spots and streaks. The rim of the pitcher (known as a peristome) is narrow, smooth and greenish yellow. The egg-shaped lid is held over the pitcher opening at an angle. The pair of wings on the pitcher is narrow and fringed with hairs.
Taxonomy This plant is a cross between Nepenthes x trichocarpa and Nepenthes bicalcarata. The parent species Nepenthes x trichocarpa is a natural hybrid between Nepenthes ampullaria and Nepenthes gracilis.
Cultivation Pot this plant in a low nutrient media that remains moist, but well-drained. Avoid fertilizing the plant which may inhibit pitcher formation.
