Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form Small rheophytic herb, usually to 10-12 cm tall 
Foliage Leaves elliptic or somewhat ovate, leaf blades 3-12cm long by 2-3.5cm wide, base color mid - dark green, with scattered lime green markings. Petioles reddish purple - very dark purple
Habitat Along streams in lowland forests, often as a rheophyte, growing on mudbanks, on rocks in streams or on the sides of waterfalls. 
Cultivation This species is cultivated by aquarium plant enthusiasts and is often grown emersed. It requires an environment with high humidity to do well.
