Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form An aquatic, perennial herb. It has a prostrate and branching growth form when grown on land. It has an ascending growth habit when grown underwater. 
Foliage The leaves growing above the water surface are lanceolate and green in colour when the submersed leaves are longer and narrower. The leaf colour is green when emersed and green or brick red to red-brown in colour when submersed. 
Flowers The yellow flowers are formed at the leaf axils on the emersed stems and have 4 yellow petals and 4 triangular green sepals.
