Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form Herb to 1m tall, often regarded as a hardy annual foliage plant.
Foliage Leaves to 5- 15cm long by 3-8cm wide, leaf blades dissected, both surfaces white woolly tomentose. Young leaves are slightly lobed. As it matures, leaves becomes deeply cut
Flowers Flower heads bright yellow, to 1-1.5cm across
Etymology Senecio is derived from the Latin word, Senex which means old man in English. It refers to the fluffy white seed heads commonly found in species of this genus which resembles the white hair of an old man's head. cineraria refers to the ash-coloured foliage of the plant.
Ethnobotanical Uses Cut - Dried Flower: Stems are harvested and sold as cut foliage
