Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form A deciduous, terrestrial orchid, it has a clumping growth form.  
Foliage The leaves are borne on pseudobulbs and are narrow. The pseudobulbs are stout and elliptical in shape, the leaves drop off at the start of the dry season. 
Flowers The flowers are borne on racemes which originate from the base of the pseudobulbs. The racemes can grow up to 40cm in length. The flowers have green sepals and petals and measure about 3cm wide. The flower lip is white with a green margin and green or brown veins. The lip margin is wavy. The flowers are formed during the dry season. 
Habitat It can be found in open grassland and scrubland in areas with a especially dry season. It tends to colonise disturbed soils. 
Cultivation It can be grown in full sun, in sandy soils.
