Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form A epiphytic, sympodial orchid. It has a clumping growth form. The stems can reach 95cm in hieght. 
Foliage The simple leaves are 6 to 7cm long. 
Stems The stems are robust, stiff and erect, being basally swollen and having a cane-like, leaf-bearing upper section.  
Flowers The flowers are borne in the axillary leaf nodes on the upper part of the stem and have orange petals and sepals. 
Habitat It grows in open areas at altitudes from sea level to 350m. It is found in old mangroves, trees in woodlands, riverbeds, lake sides and floodplains.
