Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form A deciduous, clump-forming grass. It can grow up to a height of 1 to 1.5m. The clumps expand slowly in circumference by means of its rhizomes. 
Foliage The leaves are long, linear and simple with yellow horizontal bands running across the dark green leaf blade. 
Cultivation It is best grown under full sun in moist soil. It can also be grown in well-drained to clayey soils.
