Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form A monopodial orchid, it can grow up to 45cm in height. 
Foliage The leaves are light green and are about 25cm in length and 2.5cm in width. 
Flowers The flowers are about 4cm in width and have spathulate petals and sepals which are slightly twisted and are yellow and heavily blotched with red. The flower lip is pink to pale purple with small basal side lobes. The mid-lobe is oblong with an entire margin and is slightly curved downwards.  
Cultivation It is ideally grown under partial shade and in very free-draining, well aerated growing media, mounted on fern bark slabs or hung on open, slatted wooden baskets.
